Job Description

The Front Office Receptionist is essential to ensuring that patient registrations are managed accurately and efficiently using medical systems. This role will involve verifying insurance coverage and preparing necessary documentation for patient appointments while adhering to established policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Greet patients and visitors warmly, responding to inquiries in-person or over the phone.
  • Document patient arrivals accurately in the Practice Management System (EMR).
  • Identify patients using their date of birth and name, creating new accounts when necessary.
  • Prepare and organize required paperwork ahead of scheduled appointments.
  • Contact patients with missed appointments to reschedule and update records accordingly.
  • Enhance patient satisfaction by managing appointment scheduling and addressing any concerns.
  • Assist in emergency situations by responding promptly and judiciously to distressed patients.
  • Update patient information in the Practice Management System (EMR) as needed.
  • Verify insurance eligibility and financial status, ensuring that prior authorizations are handled as necessary.
  • Maintain a clean and organized reception area to create a welcoming atmosphere.
  • Record and collect patient financial information, including copays and outstanding balances.
  • Ensure patient confidentiality regarding personal and financial information is upheld.
  • Follow established policies and procedures, reporting any necessary changes.
  • Contribute to team goals by supporting various administrative tasks.
  • Provide top-notch customer service consistently.
  • Maintain professional communication with all patients and staff.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Practice Manager or Area Practice Manager.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma required; an Associate's Degree is preferred.
  • At least 1 year of customer service experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
