This department brings the world’s most innovative approaches to patients with all conditions, from common to complex.
Essential Job Functions
- Sets up, operates, and troubleshoots anesthesia machines, monitors, and ancillary devices.
- Assists the anesthesia provider with patient transport, positioning and insertion of intravenous/ invasive lines, acquisition of medications and routine/ difficult intubations and extubations.
- Responsible for repairs, maintenance and fabrication of anesthesia equipment in the GOR, DCAM operating rooms, Labor and Delivery suites.
- Responsible for ordering, acquisition, and distribution of anesthesia and supplies in GOR, DCAM O.R.s, Comer Children's O.R.s, and Labor & Delivery Suites. Organizes support spaces, restocks O.R.’s and work areas, provides supply and set-up assistance for practitioners.
- Understands, correctly uses, and trains Anesthesia Technicians on the various aseptic techniques used for routine cleaning, disinfecting, sterilizing and storing of all reusable equipment and supplies.
- Performs other duties as requested by senior management.
- May perform Point of Care Testing (POCT) as needed.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least two years of experience as an anesthesia technician or relevant operating room experience
- AHA BLS upon hire or within first month of hire
Preferred Qualifications
- Successful completion of certification examination requirements established by the American Society of Anesthesia Technologists and Technicians

In this role, we anticipate that you will generally work approximately 40 hours per week. We anticipate that you will generally be scheduled to work the rotating shift, and will be scheduled for on-call shifts. We anticipate you will be scheduled to work 100% at the Hyde Park campus. The days of the week that you are scheduled will vary depending on the week, but we anticipate that you will be scheduled to work on weekends (Saturday and/or Sunday) every 3rd week.
